Bringing institutional rigour to the world's most consequential underserved economies
ELEVA Research was founded on a simple observation: the regions with the most complex economic dynamics are often the least well-served by rigorous, independent analysis. The Western Balkans — a constellation of small, open economies bound by shared history, diaspora networks, and Euro-Atlantic aspirations — occupy precisely this gap.
Our publications aim to provide the kind of analysis that a serious policymaker, institutional investor, or academic economist would reach for: methodologically transparent, empirically grounded, and written with clarity rather than jargon. We treat our audience as capable of engaging with complexity.
ELEVA Research is editorially independent. We accept no government funding, hold no equity positions in the entities we discuss, and publish our methodologies openly.
How we research
Primary Data Collection
Where existing data sources are insufficient, we conduct original fieldwork — household surveys, structured interviews with practitioners, and engagement with diaspora community organisations in host countries.
Institutional Data Integration
We draw on central bank publications, IMF Article IV consultations, World Bank household surveys, and national statistics agencies, applying consistent adjustments for inter-comparability across jurisdictions with different reporting standards.
Quantitative Modelling
Our structural risk indices and economic models are built with documented assumptions and sensitivity analyses. We publish methodological appendices with each issue.
Peer Engagement
Pre-publication drafts are circulated to practitioners, academics, and policymakers with regional expertise. We incorporate substantive comments while maintaining editorial independence over final conclusions.
Research team
ELEVA Research is a small, focused team of economists and analysts with specialist expertise in the Western Balkans, diaspora economics, and emerging market finance. Contributors are announced with each publication.
Advisory board — forming
We are in the process of forming an advisory board composed of economists, investment practitioners, and regional specialists with deep expertise in the Western Balkans and diaspora economies. Advisory board appointments will be announced with Volume 1, Issue 2.
